In order to help prevention of the fraudulent usage of your card, please respect the following steps.
For any problem regarding usage of your card, please contact only GarantiBank and not the merchant at which the operation was performed, or the ATM/merchant’s bank.
For protection of your personal data
- Do not ever answer to the e-mail messages containing requests regarding the personal data e.g.: card number, PIN, expiry date of the card or any other personal data. The bank will never request such information by e-mail.
- Be sure that the information written on your receipts or destroyed documents cannot be recovered.
For protection of your card
- Sign the card immediately after receiving.
- Keep the card safely and do not lend it.
- Contact the bank if you did not receive the card when expected.
- Do not ever return the card to a person which pretends to be hired by the company which delivered the card.
- Inform immediately the bank about the loss/stolen of the card.
For protection of the PIN
- Memorize the PIN code and do not share it to anyone.
- Destroy the paper on which it was written.
- Do not write down the PIN on the card.
- Do not keep the written PIN and the card in the same place.
- Change the PIN by Garanti Bank ATM-s when you consider the PIN received from the bank is very hard to be memorized.
- Set the PIN in such manner so it can be hardly guessed and do not use for it your personal data such us: birth date; account number; telephone number; CNP or any other combination of these data.
- Do not set the PIN of the card as the one used for other services which request authentication e.g.: internet account; e-mail account etc.
- Do not set the same PIN for all the cards you own.
- Request for a new PIN if you don’t remember the old one.
When you perform transactions at the merchants ( POS )
- Do not let the card out off sight during a transaction. Ask the merchant to perform the transaction in front of you.
- Ask the merchant for the transaction receipt and carefully verify the information contained (date, card number, name, surname, amount).
- Keep all the receipts and check them with the transaction from your statement.
- Do not forget to take your card back after the transaction was performed.
When you perform transactions at the merchants ( ATM )
- Avoid making transactions at ATM-s which look suspicious or which are placed in isolated places.
- Verify the look of the ATM and don’t make the transaction if you think something is wrong.
- Take the card out of you wallet/bag some time before the arrival at the ATM in order to avoid searching for it in front of the machine.
- Be sure that no one can see the PIN while introducing in the ATM.
- Do not accept the help of any person when performing ATM transactions.
- Interrupt and abort the transaction when something suspicious occurs.
- Do not forget to take your card back after the transaction was performed.
- Keep all the receipts and check them with the transaction from your statement.
What you should do when you consider something as fraud
- Contact immediately the bank, report the fraudulent transactions and request the issuance of a new card, even if the card is in your possession.
- Contact urgently the bank if you don’t recognize any transaction from the statement.
